Across our churches in North Alabama, this year we’ve seen an increased interest in the amount of Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from churchgoers. QCDs are tax-free gifts from an IRA that are mutually beneficial — they provide immediate tax benefits to the donor, and provide immediate support to the Church’s ministries.
In a moment when many in our region are facing financial difficulties, this form of giving presents a valuable opportunity to the Church. Focusing on QCDs (especially at year end, when tax savings are often top of mind), could be advantageous.
